Sacked athlete had to fork out nearly S$60,000 in expenses

A day after it was revealed in court that Mr Luan Wei's parents had paid 20,000 yuan (S$4,043) in penalties to a Shanghai sports school to come to Singapore, it emerged that they had to fork out the equivalent of nearly S$60,000 in expenses after he was sacked by the Singapore Athletic Association (SAA).
