Design lessons

I refer to the recommendation that Design Learning be taught in schools (Teach Design In Schools, Life!, Dec 2).

Design has been taught in secondary school since 1988. The subject is known as Design & Technology. But it is little known because unenlightened principals view it as a 'hands-on'' subject for less academically inclined students.

I have been teaching Design & Technology for over 30 years. It is an uphill task to convince people it is a rigorous course. I am glad that the DesignSingapore Council is promoting Design Learning in schools.
